News to make your heart soar!!!

After 2 years and 8 months of rehabilitation work and learning experiences we are over the moon to let everyone know that Roxy & Russell have a new home!!    They have gone to live with a wonderful couple who spent the time getting to know them and fell in love with the wonderful and unique pair that Roxy & Russell are.   Many tears have been shed up and down the country at this news as R&R have lots of fans.  They have come on an amazing journey, from the feral, terrified and shut down dogs that arrived so long ago to the amazing cheeky personalities they are now.   We are incredibly proud of them, and so will be Julia & Sue who fostered them recently and allowed them to experience more new situations.  We will all miss the maypole walk that only R&R can do with such style.   :-)   Have an absolutely wonderful life R&R, with your new mum and dad.  Be brave, look forward and carry on taking those steps onwards and upwards.  xxxxxx

Nearly there!!

The builders have literally left the building and all their work is now completed!  The last of the kennels are fitted tomorrow and then its just tidying up behind everyone!!   Phew!!    We are back to gravelling again to complete the last areas we would like to do, so once again, if anyone would like to sponsor a bag of gravel we would be very grateful.  The cost is £44 for a ton.  Watch this space for photos when everything is done and dusted.   It's very, very exciting!

Today we have mostly been avoiding making cat statues....

The new floor is going down, so we have mostly been keeping nosey cats at bay before they either make pretty patterns or end up as permanent fixtures in the new floor!!

Phew, what a scorcher!! And Ice cream on a roundabout!

Huge well done's to our lovely vets, Vets4Pets, Kettering for their show on Saturday, and also to Sharon who organised another show at the Corby carnival on Saturday.  It was a blistering day at both events, so massive thank you's to them both for braving the heat and soldiering on.  Massive thanks to the brave folks and their dogs that attended and supported both shows.   Lots of cold drinks and ice creams were consumed during the day.  :-)

Speaking of ice cream, we were sabotaged by an urgent need for an ice cold treat yesterday afternoon!  The lovely London had visitors and was adopted yesterday, he has gone to live with two other Wiccs doggies.  :-)    As London was leaving with his new family, Paul decided to pop out at the same time and treat us both to an ice cream from the local shop.   He'd only been gone for 5 mins, when I noticed a message on the Wiccs phone.    I  listened to the message and it was Paul.  He'd forgotten to take a phone with him and this was a call from an unknown number.   The message said that as he was going round the roundabout, the front suspension had gone on the car!   He'd managed to steer to the side of the roundabout, with sparks flying from the wing sliding along the road, and thankfully a passing car stopped to offer help.  The chap let Paul use his phone to contact me, and then together with another passer-by, they lifted the back of the car as it was poking out into traffic and get that alongside the side of the road too.   I'm sure lifting cars wasn't in Paul's post heart attack recovery regime either, along with avoiding stress!    I called the RAC and then went down to join Paul at the roundabout to wait for the recovery truck.   I popped in the shop and got plenty of water and a couple of ice cream lollies to keep us going why we waited.  An ice cream picnic in the blazing heat, on a roundabout, wasn't exactly what we had in mind!  Hey ho.  The main thing is that no-one was hurt, and thankfully because Paul was going round the roundabout at the time, he was going quite slowly when it happened.   It could have been a lot, lot worse.

Congratulations to Paul & Midge - John O'Groats to Lands End

Massive congratulations to Midge and his dad Paul who earlier this week completed a 2 month joggle across the UK, from John O'Groats to Lands End, a total of 1200 miles.  It is a fantastic achievement for them both.  Midge is the first Wiccs dog to do this trek, and as far as we are all aware, the first completely blind dog to do it.    We are hugely proud of both of them.   Well done boys!!!

Mass Hatching at Wiccs.... not chicken related though!

Blimey, what a scorcher it was yesterday.
Massive, massive thanks to Merlin and Jack's dad Andy who came up today to put the hatch holes in the wall for the new kennels.  He was accompanied and supervised by Site Foreman Merlin.  Andy and Paul both worked like troopers in extremely hot conditions, from 10.30am to 8pm to get it finished and ready for the hatch doors this week.   It was very hard work cutting though the walls and then moving heavy rubble.  It was so hot that it was unbearable at some times without a bit of shade, and much cold liquid was consumed.   A very rewarding day, if somewhat heat exhausting.
