And then there were two......

What a busy weekend!!! Lots of comings and goings, happy faces and doggies off to new homes!
The main news was the departure of four of Madge's Fridge Monkeys! And the lovely Madge herself!! On Friday, Brooke left to go to her new home. Here she is checking out all her new stuff and extremely large bed! Super spoilt poopie!
On Saturday it was the turn of 3 more of the girls. Little Wiccaweys Razzle Dazzle headed off with her new family - and human best friend!
Then off went another with her new family.... new name still to be decided. She was Cheddar with us.
And the homing of the day that had me & Paul sobbing uncontrollably as they all left! Tears of joy as our darling Madge headed off to her new home with our equally darling little Brie. Bless her. And Madge also gets to see Brooke on a regular basis too, as she lives just up the road. How lovely. Just look how proud they all look in this pic. *sniffling again as I am typing this!*
Good luck to all our little family in their new homes!! We love you all. The kitchen is very quiet at the moment with just the 2 pups in there... well, I say quiet...... LOL - less little feet dashing around! Pair of little monsters they are. They have been having a whale of a time this weekend meeting and greeting people. They are currently helping a nervous new arrival learn to play like a puppy. The kitchen looks like a puppy pyjama party has been thrown with toys all over the place and beds strewn in all directions!!!

Busy, Busy.. - and flaming AOL!

Lots to do this week. Which hasn't been helped by AOL doing its regular magic trick of disappearing all saved email! Disaster! Years of emails gone! We *think* Paul has managed to find it all, so fingers crossed. I really don't know why it happens, but when you check on various forums it seems to be a regular happening. Very naughty! So what else has been happening...?, we are busy getting stuff ready for the BIG SHOW in September. Lots to do and organise. It's not far away, so I am now slipping into headless chicken mode. Paul has been beavering away on his secret project. :) All will be revealed. Tonight we went and had a look at a fantastic workshop/summerhouse/gamesroom thingy that would make a wonderful puppy house/den/playroom! Its HUGE!!! About 26ft long and probably about 16ft deep, if not more. Its MASSIVE. The folks are selling it because they are moving. We'd love it, and are now trying to work out the logistics of taking it down and moving it to HQ. Luckily its not far from us, but we would need a weekend and several strong men and women to accomplish the mission! Its a bit like trying to organise an Amish Barn Raising!

Eventful day

I don't know what the weather is doing where everyone else is, but here it has rained most of the day. Nick & Karen are here for the weekend, and helping to catch up on those normal life jobs that get overlooked. All the lawns are now looking neat and tidy again, and hedges have been trimmed back - all done first thing this morning and inbetween downpours! Alexa & Carol were up for dog walking, and Liz arrived after carrying out a homecheck. Alexa, Karen and I popped out this afternoon to pick up a dog crate I'd picked up cheap on Ebay. While we were out we received a call from Nick to ask were the nearest hospital was! Oh crikey, what's happen? While we were out, Nic and Joe the teenage Border Collie had arrived to help out with walking. Joe had very excitedly tried to say hello to his Auntie Liz, just as she was drinking a cup of coffee! Scalding water all over her. And just as all this was happening, Lisa turned up with the latest incomers from Birmingham Dogs Home. So Nic's rushed Liz off to casulty, we rushed back to HQ and the dogs rushed around being dogs! Poor Liz has superfical burns to her neck and chest, so very very sore, bless her. Obviously she was quite shocked and wobberly after it all, so when they got back from the hospital Alexa drove Liz home, while Carol followed behind. Alexa has called to say Liz is safely landed back home now. The four incomers are all settled in nicely. 3 collies and a very lovely hairy person who looks like Lucky from the More Than adverts. THANK YOU Thank you to the people who have messaged with words of kindness and support. Thank you. It does help to know that you understand and feel for us, and most importantly for the dogs. And for those that have messaged to say we all have problems and you don't want to read about ours - easy answer - Don't read the blog! Sorry, rescue life isn't all Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows everywhere. Its dirty, gritty and far too often, heartbreaking. If ALL rescuers everywhere didn't have somewhere, or someone that they could sound off too, then they would burn out and no animals would be saved. I have my blog, its my thoughts and my life. You don't have to share it. If you can't stand the heat, then get out the hell out of my kitchen!

What's the use? Why bother?

I've lost complete faith in myself. Whats the point, because I certainly don't know anymore. You can only do your best, but when your best isn't good enough, then what? You have nothing left to give. Because its all been taken from you. You've been drained and left empty. A dead husk.

Another flight departs...

Just when life is becoming bearable again, The Rainbow Bridge tears another soul away from us. My beautiful old Pekingese Monkey crossed this morning. She was an old lady, and had aged dramatically over the past couple of months. This morning her heart decided to go to sleep forever. My cheeky little Monkey, the sweetest, funniest and most loving little soul. I can't bear the thought of her not being here. We were both with her as she crossed over, she waited until we could both be with her. I think I am going mad as I couldn't let go of her for ages afterwards, and just kept rocking and crying with her, pleading and begging her to wake up and come back to me. I just want my Monkey back, my funny little Monkey Magic. I don't think I have any heart left to break now.

The new Fridge Monkeys!

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Madge's Monsters have reached Fridge Monkey stage. I was in the kitchen making a cup of tea. I had managed to avoid being dragged the ground and puppy snuffled into submisson. They were lulling me into a false sense of security by pretending to eat their lunch. I opened the fridge and got the milk out. 20 second later I bent down to put it back in the fridge, to find 4 puppies trying to get in, and 2 puppies actually already sitting on a shelf! Paul thinks we have stumbled onto something here - cryogenically frozen pooopies!!! Awwwwww. I really have to do photos and a new video of them. They definately have their individual personalities now, so I shall start naming them. Decisions, Decisions. Watch this space! SHOW The Wiccs show is only a month away now, its going to be HUGE this year, a whole weekend of collieness! Our first agility show on Saturday 6th September (schedule can be downloaded from the events page on the website) and the Dog Show & Collie Fun Day on the Sunday 7th September. We've working hard on getting things organised over the past few days. Its very exciting. Our show is fantastic! Even if I do say so myself! LOL!

The sad week continues.

The Rainbow Bridge has called another old friend today. Mum has just phoned to say that little Katie, Mum & Dad's little 16/17 year old Yorkie crossed over this morning. It feels like there is no end to it this week. And yesterday was 1 year to the day since we lost our beloved Jazz. Mum was feeling it hard yesterday, and now this today. Run free little Kate, I'm sure Jazz will be waiting to show you around in the Summerlands.
